The New York State Department of Health (the Department) is committed to increasing access to All-Payer claims data and hospital discharge data (SPARCS) through the release of Public Use Files (PUFs).

PUFs are de-identified datasets tailored to support policymakers, researchers, and the public by providing data for research, reporting, and analysis free of charge.

Both All-Payer claims data and hospital discharge data (SPARCS) PUFs are available in multiple formats on the Department’s open data portal, HealthDataNY. Alternatively, use the links in the left panel for each data source to see what is available.

While researchers may find PUFs to be helpful resources, we understand that they may not meet all needs. Researchers who seek more granular data through the purchase of Research Files (RFs) should visit SPARCS Support for hospital discharge data and visit APD Support for All-Payer claims data.
